Over the past 30 years, KoMiCo has established itself as a leading company in the cleaning and coating industry for semiconductor equipment parts through continuous challenges and innovation. Marking this meaningful milestone, KoMiCo looks back on its journey and achievements while reaffirming its commitment to taking a new leap toward an even greater future.
1996-1999
A Challenge That Began in a Small Space
KoMiCo’s story began 30 years ago in 1996 at the Business Incubation Center of the University of Ulsan. Starting in a small space of approximately 60 pyeong, KoMiCo took on the challenge of entering a new field in Korea: cleaning services for semiconductor equipment parts, in line with the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry.
In 1997, KoMiCo strengthened its technological foundation by developing cleaning and refurbishment technologies for LCD masks and shields. After relocating to Anseong, Gyeonggi-do in 1998, the company established its corporate R&D center in 1999, laying the groundwork for full-scale technology development and growth.
2005
Establishment of KoMiCo’s First Overseas Base: Wuxi Subsidiary in China
In 2005, KoMiCo took its first step into the global market by establishing its Wuxi subsidiary in China. As KoMiCo’s first overseas subsidiary, the Wuxi site became a symbolic base marking the beginning of the company’s global management.
Today, KoMiCo operates 10 business sites across five countries, including Korea, China, the United States, Singapore, and Taiwan. The company provides reliable precision cleaning and specialized coating technology services to major global customers such as Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, TSMC, Micron, and Intel.
2013
Launch of KoMiCo as a Specialized Company in Semiconductor Cleaning and Coating
In August 2013, KoMiCo was newly launched as an independent corporation through the physical spin-off of the semiconductor cleaning and coating business division from its parent company, MiCo.
This marked a pivotal turning point for KoMiCo, further solidifying its identity as a company specializing in precision cleaning and specialized coating while accelerating its growth as a technology-driven enterprise.
2014
Strengthening Technological Competitiveness with the Development of Advanced APS Coating Technology
In 2014, KoMiCo further enhanced its technological competitiveness in the field of semiconductor equipment parts coating by developing Y₂O₃ APS coating technology optimized for customer processes.
This coating technology realizes a high-density structure that reduces coating layer porosity by more than 50% compared to conventional coatings, delivering excellent plasma resistance even in high-temperature and highly corrosive environments such as semiconductor etching processes.
Based on this coating technology, KoMiCo continues to advance surface protection technologies optimized for semiconductor process environments, responding to the evolving needs of global customers.
2016
Development of NOVA Coating for Large-Scale Parts
In 2016, KoMiCo began offering coating services for large-scale parts requiring single-layer or multilayer coatings, based on its independently developed NOVA coating equipment.
In particular, through F-based NOVA coating technology, KoMiCo realized AD coating layers with excellent corrosion resistance in plasma environments, securing stable performance even under the extreme conditions of semiconductor processes.
As of December 31, 2025, KoMiCo has secured a total of 104 registered patents in Korea and overseas, continuously strengthening its technology-based competitiveness.
2023
Expansion of Business Portfolio with the Incorporation of MiCo Ceramics as a Subsidiary
In July 2023, KoMiCo incorporated MiCo Ceramics, a company specializing in advanced ceramic material parts, as a subsidiary.
Based on MiCo Ceramics’ manufacturing technologies for core semiconductor parts such as ceramic heaters and ESCs, the company gained recognition for its technological capabilities by receiving the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office Award as an Excellent IP-R&D Institution in 2024, as well as the USD 70 Million Export Tower at the 61st Trade Day.
2026
KoMiCo’s 30th Anniversary and a New Leap Forward
In 2026, KoMiCo has grown into a global company with 10 business sites across five countries and more than 2,300 employees worldwide. Since its founding in 1996, KoMiCo has continued to grow steadily, achieving KRW 500 billion in revenue.
Building on the experience and expertise accumulated over the past 30 years, KoMiCo will continue to expand its future business areas as a company that provides core solutions for the semiconductor industry.
